Here you will find out why i-babble was started.

i-babble started for many reasons, some of which are unrelated advertising and
the " win a free laptop " claims when you quite clearly don't.

But the main reason would be, because of the " Stranger Danger " problem that the internet has.

In today's world where many kids have access to a computer most usually use some sort of social network site,

Myspace, Bebo, Msn, Facebook to name but a few,

While there is nothing wrong with these sites in general, they are open to all & sundry.

Kids need an environment where they can hang out in safety !

Not to long ago kids hung around in the street, some still do, it's not a bad thing.

Usually a group of friends, often from the same school, of the similar age, with the same objective, to chat, laugh, joke, play games and dare it be said to have fun.

While sometimes adults can be a little suspicious to what they are up to,

Most of the time they are just " hanging out " with no hidden agenda,

But never do we see " strangers " lurking at the sidelines, of all ages, from wherever
& whatever background,

Hanging on there every word, joining in the chat and banter, picking up on how old they are.

Listening to what they like to do, where they are going to be next, where they live and go to school.

The likes of which have been reported on the BBC's Panorama One Click From Danger programme and the Child Exploitation and Online Protection ( CEOP ) center website.

Is the answer to ban your children from ever going near a computer again to shelter them from " Stranger Danger " ?

No, because the internet has become a massive part of our lives and especially with children, of all ages.

It can open up many new opportunities to learn and communicate, and has now become an essential part of their every day world.

Whether they are using it for homework, to talk and share material with their friends or for a multitude of other uses that are legitimate and beneficial in so many ways.

THE ANSWER IS I-BABBLE

It's this main reason that began the quest to build a website, that has the features of the major sites, that kids already use,

but all together in a safe environment which is both fun and interactive, while making the members aware of the dangers of the internet, with videos, stories and advice and ways to guide the children into a safer online experience,

all aimed at the 11- 16 age group and without the worry that " strangers " are lurking behind them.

BBC's Panorama One Click From Danger

Every day children are putting themselves at risk because of their actions on the internet.

Brighton teenagers Ellie Budd and Olivia Lewis, both 14 at the time, joined in on the social networking phenomenon.

They each created their own profiles and posted them on MySpace, one of several popular social networking sites.

But the girls didn't realise their profiles were attracting the wrong kind of attention.
